We adopted 2 dogs from you last January (2007), and they are wonderful family members now. Rosie (a beagle/lab/border collie?)

is now over a year old, and still a kisser, just as she was when we first met her. Charlie, whose name was Amos when we adopted him, is a true best friend to all

of us, and a pal of Rosie. When we adopted him, he was estimated to be about 2 years old, and had been found as a stray, and had spent several months in your shelter. Now that he's been home with us for 8 months, we've discovered some curious things about Charlie: He LOVES motorcycles and the people who ride them. We are sure that he had a happy home life before he strayed, as he is so well-adjusted, with no fears or paranoia. We guess that his previous owner was a very nice person who rode a motorcycle. Anytime Charlie hears one, or sees one while we're on a walk, he pricks up his ears, and if it goes past, Charlie will jump up and bark happily. The one time he had a chance, he ran up to the stranger on the motorcycle and jumped up to greet him, with a big doggy smile. The other thing we've learned about Charlie this past summer is that he loves the river. We walk the dogs down to the Raquette River occasionally, and on leash, he wades right in, stands there with a very contented look, and swims a little bit, as much as the leash will allow. It's clear that he is loving every minute. As large as he is (not overweight, but big-framed like a bassett hound) it seems he was built to float, and as Karen (whom we saw at your shelter, also my former Lisbon School Principal) told me, he loves water, even the smallest puddle, he'll walk right through it. What a sweetie he is--Both dogs are, and with them, we are a happy family. Thank you all for taking such good care of them, until we could adopt them! --Jill
