ROUNDWORMS AND HOOKWORMS
These are also parasites, as are Heartworms, and they are transmitted via contaminated soil or feces. Hookworms will attach themselves to the walls of the animal’s intestines while Roundworms will literally swim in the dog’s digesting food. They can cause noticeable discomfort and sometimes serious health problems if they are left untreated. Although rare, transmission to humans is possible via the same methods a dog will use to contract them. Keep stray dogs and cats away from children’s play areas, wash their hands often and ensure that your dog is properly protected.
Again, your veterinarian can do tests to check for these parasites and provide treament if needed. Please, be sure to keep your pets tesed and protected.
