ASSISTANT WEB SITE MANAGER

Hi,

I am Tom, the Web Site Manager.  I am looking for an individual to assist with maintenance of the SPCA web site.  This person would be my designated assistant and use an assigned SPCA e-mail address for all web site related matters.

If you are interested in assisting me, the major responsibilities would be to maintain the adoptable animals photographs for cats and dogs when I am absent or otherwise unavailable to do so.
This would involve the ability to create thumbnails and full-size photographs as “stacked pages” from originals provided to you. Each photograph arrives with its own camera-assigned filename which has to be modified to indicate the cage number and animal’s name at the shelter.  Being able to handle descriptive information along-side the full size photos would be a plus but not absolutely necessary.
The major goal would be to get the photographs onto the web site, identified, trimmed, light/contrast adjusted, etc. as required.

Currently I use PaintShop Pro 12 for graphic work, Netobjects Fusion (NOF) 11 for web page gneration and ftp publishing either to the site or to me, whichever is the most feasible.
Whatever application/s you decide to use, I will need to be able to import or otherwise include it in NOF11 in order to maintain an accurate record of the web site’s progress. For the most part, I expect that to be my problem but you may need to assist me in some of the nuances of your programs.
NOF 7 is a free version of NOF currently available and if IIRC,  could handle these tasks via its photo gallery functions.
There might be a fair amount of testing and repetition in developing an acceptable and useful procedure for us to use, but I feel confident it could be done.

For clarification and reference, the following pages are the ones that would need to be worked on as major reqirements:
http://www.stlawrencevalleyspca.org/adoptions.html  , though minimally, and
http://www.stlawrencevalleyspca.org/AdoptableCats/cats.html  and
http://www.stlawrencevalleyspca.org/AdoptableDogs/dogs.html  .

For a true animal lover, there are a plethora of other possibilities available if desired, ranging from writing articles/stories/information for other pages on the site to submitting possible entries for the SPCA newsletter that is distributed about 4 time/year, sometimes 5, and if so inclined even to assist with research into increasing our return visitor rates and special features giving people a reason to return. I have a few so far untested brainstorms in those areas for children and the elderly but need more and need to figure out how to turn a brainstorm into reality.
Vetting the web site pages is always something that would be appreciated in order to keep a professional, reliable look to the site.  Even the heirarchical site format is open to discussion and input.  So, there are lots of areas to get into for anyone interested who has a strong love for animals and a genuine concern for their well being.  The above would not carry the responsibility of having to manage the site directly; they would simply be submitted to me at my own e-mail address.

To give you a bit of a shortcut for reference, you may go to:

and click on the Contact Us image to go right to the forms for contacting web site management.

If you’d like to be involved in any way, let me know and we’ll see what we can work out.  Perhaps you cannot handle the photograpic work described but you think thre are other areas you would like to assist with; feel free to ask. I am always open to outside input.
